Do I really need pedals and pickup upgrade?
Not so new beginner player here. A little about me, I have experience as a music producer and mix engineer for hip-hop and pop songs.
I have a handful of plugins in my MacBook and I recently got Archetype: Tim Henson, beside that I have a borrowed license for Positive Grid Bias FX 2 from my brother. I have a Hils HN3, GOC Guitars Materia+ 7 string, Ibanez AZ24S1F, and recently got a Pacifica 112 (1995). All of them are stock. Also have a spark mini amp in my living room for practicing.
I am wondering if I really need pedals especially when I have a MacBook that can run amp sims and a spark mini, the only pedals that probably interest me right now is a polytune 3 mini, so that I can setup guitars faster. Still trying to justify a nanocortex, but I really can't. I am an introvert and not looking to gig anytime soon, I would rather practice in my house until I am actually good enough to wow people when I go out.
As for the pick up upgrades, same thing. When you can objectively change the output sound using plugins and amp sim, how does upgrading pickups justify the cost? Will it make the noises disappear and provide cleaner input for my amp sims and such?
