Every Reddit User should set up more than one account
If you’re reading this and wondering ‘why do I need more than one account?’ then think back to a recent time you got SCAMMED and BLOCKED. You were probably FURIOUS and wanted to blow that person’s post up with responses warning everyone it was a SCAM. But you couldn’t because the post was no longer available for you to view.
What if you had another account? Just sign up with a different email. If you only have one email address then let me encourage you to set up another one. Google lets you have multiple email addresses and each one gives you 15 gig of space on Google drive. So now you can create a second reddit account. If you’re using the Reddit app then you can switch back and forth between accounts by using the new drop down menu that is now available by clicking on your username.
Now you can hold them accountable - at least until they block you again. They probably won’t. My experience has shown that the SCAMMERS often have MANY Reddit accounts. They can’t keep up with who they’ve blocked or scammed. But you can recognize them so quickly get back on their post and click on their profile page and take a screenshot. Pop on over here to r/verifiedscammers and immediately create a post with their username and the word SCAMMER as the title. Upload the screenshot of their profile page and say whatever you want about them. Describe the details of their scam if you want to be really helpful.
Do a search of their profile (especially if they have no posts showing on their profile) by typing the ASTERISK (*) ONLY in the search bar while on their profile and tap GO, RETURN, ENTER, whatever is appropriate. You will instantly see a list of all their posts. This is the QUICKEST way I have found to verify a SCAMMER. If they have been spamming the same type of post to multiple subreddits then it’s most likely a scam.
I have encountered a few SCAMMERS who have a whole system worked out. They post from an account that is disposable to them. They plan to delete it soon. They ask you to upvote and comment. All the sudden you get a DM from a different account. It’s the person who posted but not the same account. This account might even be several years old. This is the one they will scam you from and then block you before you even think to screenshot something. If you even BEGIN to think it might be a scammer take a screenshot so if nothing else you can log into a different account of yours and look up the username. It will take some time and a lot of effort by many to start turning this red tide of SCAMMERS. Good trumps bad in my book. Maybe, one day, we’ll have a scam-free Reddit!
