How To Handle Backwards Cries For Help
When I was first attuned to Reiki 3A, my Reiki Master Teacher gave me a warning that at the time seemed very odd. She told me, “Not everyone has the insight or conscious willingness to directly ask for your help. Most people will come to you with polite requests — but every once in a while, somebody will come to you with Stupid. They will scream out, ‘I need your help!’ by being an a**hole. Try to help them anyway.” Soon enough I’d experienced what she meant.
This post is brought to you by an example of that which I (and perhaps some others on this sub) witnessed earlier today. Honestly it was one of the most impressive examples I’ve ever seen of it — because it drew not the attention of just one Reiki Master and/or Master Teacher, but of many. For those of you who have yet to experience this kind of behaviour or who don’t completely know how to approach it yet, I’d like to share a few thoughts and encourage other Master Practitioners and Master Teachers to do likewise.
My instruction on how to handle these situations was to engage with the individual making such a cry for help by conversing long enough to at least observe the problem the person was experiencing. Ideally, you’d get them to a place of being able to have a direct conversation about what they’re actually struggling with and involve them in their healing in a fully conscious way. Unfortunately, due to the nature of such methods of seeking help, that’s not always possible. When it’s not, you have to disengage from the person whose antics are not healthy once you’ve seen the basics of why the antics are happening. Mind you, that’s IF you are in a position yourself to endure those antics without harm to yourself, of course.
Once you have an idea of what the person is seeking help -albeit in a backwards manner- FOR, I was taught that I’m obligated to try to help them by seeking the permission of their higher self to offer distance reiki in whatever ways are relevant. Only once have I gotten the answer “No” when doing this, and in that case it was because the person’s issues were above my “pay grade” as a brand new Master Practitioner. I brought the interaction to the attention of my teacher, and she herself offered Reiki to this person’s higher self, and the answer given was “Yes.” Because she was qualified to handle it with the delicacy that was needed. In that case, the person presenting to me with their issues even though I could not yet help was a means of bridging to someone else who could.
Of course not every person being an a**hole to you is actually asking for your help though, so how do we tell the difference? These types of situations are often highly synchronistic. The situation that inspired this post for example involved my ending up reading a post I hadn’t meant to tap on from one of those “this is your type of content topic” notifications from a sub I wasn’t even in. I’d meant to dismiss the notification, not open it — but apparently I was meant to open it because by a literal slip of the hand, that is what happened. Alternatively, it may be the specific issue the person is presenting with that is somehow synchronistic for you. Or it may be some other aspect such as the person’s name, the location of the interaction, etc. By the nature of synchronicity, it will be something that YOU recognise as significant.
