Bloating and pain 7 weeks post op question
(UK) I had my gallbladder removed at the end of November, keyhole surgery, no complications.
Prior to surgery I had a year of attacks, and while I waited for surgery I moved to a low fat diet (and then an extremely low fat diet from May) which helped avoid full blown attacks but I still got regular pain, discomfort and nausea.
Since surgery, I gradually reintroduced all foods, but (other than Christmas) have generally tried to stay eating lower fat foods, as I wanted to keep the weight off.
I’ve not had any loose BMs, or other issues other than feeling particularly full and uncomfortable during twixmas after too many leftovers and picky teas. Overall I’ve considered my recovery smooth.
I have however had occasional days when I’ve been extremely bloated, I’m talking suddenly I can’t even zip up my loose jeans bloated. These days also seem to come with a day of constipation and by evening a significant pain in my right side where my gallbladder used to be.
The first couple of times this happened I was still healing and incisions were tender, thennext time I thought maybe I’d over exerted myself going back to work or exercising.
Today it’s happened again and I guess I’m wondering if I need to speak to my GP, or if this is something I can sort out diet wise… could it be specific foods? I’m not noticing a pattern of foods but could always take a closer look.
Any advise? Has anyone else had this combination of constipation, bloating and pain this far post surgery?
