2L seeking career development advice
TL;DR: I'm a second-year law student, interested in practicing in data compliance or cybersecurity law - (state / federal agency, in house, private practice — whoever hires me). Two questions:
- Do IAPP certifications meaningfully increase chances of landing an interview in this field?
- If so, which IAPP certification is best, for purposes of getting a foot in the door?
I’d plan to take one by this summer, If an IAPP certification is genuinely helpful. I’m realistic about the hiring process and don’t expect an interview for every application - with or without a certification - but I'd like to apply without feeling like it's a lost cause. That said, I’m looking for ways, in addition to networking - to become a competitive applicant. Especially for post-grad. roles.
Any advice, insights, reality checks, or words for posterity are appreciated.
Thanks!
