Proof of Income for Apts
I know this gets asked a lot as I’ve searched the sub.. First, I want to say I hate how apartments are moving from accepting bank statements as proof of income because it hasn’t been a problem before (past 3 years as full time dancer) with renting a house and apartment until now and I feel its discriminatory. The few apartments I’ve toured let me know just how much regular people really don’t know that independent contracted dancers do not get paid by the club and do not get checks so there’s no check stubs to provide.
Anyway, some have mentioned getting an “offer letter” from the club. For those of you who have used this option, what all would need to be included in the letter as proof of income? I work at multiple clubs so I may need to provide multiple. For my taxes last year, I filed as a dependent because I was living with my boyfriend so it doesn’t show that I made much for income.. Im going to try to provide as much proof as I can via email before actually applying which would include: excel sheet with earnings from 2025, 1099 from last year (with not much on it), bank statements from the past 3 months, and an offer letter or some type of proof from the club. One place doesn’t let me use a cosigner but another does so should I just go with the option that does? Another place, which I will leave as a last option, the manager said she used to be a dancer and suggested.. I make fake pay stubs but I dont want to go that route.
