I'm really desperate for an answer...

So, I'm gay (closeted rn), and two years ago, I had a crush on my friend.

I'm turning 17 this year, and I have never stopped asking myself this question since I was 14, almost 15 - What does this mean?

So, here's the story. Two years ago, I didn't really know my friend who I had a crush on, but one day, our maths teacher made us get into groups of two, and everyone else was sitting in pairs already, but he and I were sitting on separate tables, so we got paired together. After that, we started talking a lot and I began to develop feelings for him. One weekend, we scheduled to meet up to hang out, and we just walked around his neighbourhood and talked and stuff. Everytime I looked at him, I felt so warm and safe inside, and I didn't know why. Later that day, I realised I might like him as more than a friend. I never had a crush on anyone before, so I didn't really know what it felt like, or how to mask it, and I started to get really clingy. I would constantly message him and then worry that I was annoying him or embarrassing him or whatever. In lessons, I always tried to sit next to him and when I did, I was never focused because I just felt this energy and tension between us, if that makes sense. Whenever we talked, we always held strong eye contact, and were always very close to each other, like very close. One time in class, our legs touched accidentally, and he didn't move his leg and stayed like that for a few minutes, until he was asked to answer a question. We got very close, talked a lot and I started to feel confident around him (which was weird because I had, and still have, social anxiety). His house wasn't far from the school, so we would often walk to his house together after school and then I would walk home alone from there.

Anyway, sorry for typing so much nonsense haha, I got carried away. Now for the main part...

One day, me and my other friend were questioning whether or not I should admit my feelings to him (I told my other friend not long after I realised I had a crush on this friend) and he decided that I should, and I kind of wanted to anyway because it was really hurting inside to keep such a big secret for so long. So, I decided to tell him, but before I told him, I made him guess who he thought it might be, as he already knew I had a crush. Obviously, he didn't guess right (I still don't know whether or not he guessed wrong on purpose, and you'll see why soon), and he eventually gave up and begged me to tell him who it really was. I was hesitant at first, and very scared that I may lose him as a friend or, something, I don't know. But eventually, I told him and his reaction was ":o", literally that (for anyone who doesn't know, that means shocked, if you turn your phone to the right, it looks a bit like a shocked face). I then asked him what he thought about the guy I liked, to try and bring humour into the conversation in case there was any tension, which there clearly was. He then just started spamming random pictures that he had of our classmates haha, they were really funny. After he sent a few, I asked him the scariest question of all - "Do you like me back?" He saw it, but ignored it, and continued to send more pictures. After he sent a few more, I asked him it again, and he said, "More pictures first." He kept sending photos for about a minute or so, and then stopped. I said, "So, the question?" He said, "Idk." This shocked me as I thought I would get a, "No, sorry", like most people do. But he said, "Idk." Another reason why I was shocked was because he always seemed straight, and although he never 100% confirmed his sexuality, I always thought he was straight. But this, "Idk" has to mean one of two things:

One - he is bisexual and unsure if he likes me in that way or not, or is just too scared or embarrassed to admit it. Two - he is straight, but simply just doesn't wanna hurt my feelings. There may even be a third reason, which is basically one and two combined - he is bisexual, but doesn't like me in that way and doesn't wanna hurt my feelings. Now, here is why I do not believe number two was the reason, at all. After I told him, we started to become very distant, both in school and on social media. Yes, he may have just felt awkward around me after I told him, but it still doesn't seem to make any sense. And here's why - he occasionally came up to me and asked for a chewy (I'm English btw, so if there are any Americans here, a chewy is the British term for gum), as I always had them, and he knew this. I also caught him looking at me from across the room a few times. We did talk a few times during lunch, but not much, he would walk off after a bit. My other friend always thought he was gay, or bisexual, but I never did. I would message him a lot, but wouldn't reply for ages, and sometimes not reply at all. If he didn't want to hurt my feelings, he would probably still hang around with me, right? And eventually tell me that he doesn't like me. Right?? I don't know, these thoughts just race through my head all the time, which is so weird, seeing as how it's been TWO YEARS. I sometimes think I may have even been in love with him.

A few months ago, I added him on Snapchat (I have a new account), and asked him how he was doing. He just said, "Alright." And every time I messaged him, he would just give me one-word or two-word responses. About two months ago, I believe he blocked me on Snapchat, as he is no longer on my friends list and his name doesn't appear when I search it. I just don't get it. Yes, I may have destroyed the friendship by being too clingy and possibly crossing boundaries, but he could have just told me that and I would have listened. I really would like to reunite with him and start fresh, but I just don't see it happening, as I think about him a lot and feel like I still have a crush on him or something, and I'm just gonna end up messing it up all over again.

Anyway, what is your interpretation on this? I think I've missed a few things out, but I can't seem to come up with them right now because it's very late lol. This had took me over two hours to write, so please could I have at least one honest answer? I would really appreciate it, even if it isn't the answer I'm hoping for.

And in case he sees this, I want to leave him a hint that it's me. If he reads even just some of this, he'll know it's me, but just so he's sure, I'll leave him a hint. I'm not going to reveal his name, as I obviously can't do that, for safety reasons, but I'm pretty sure I can use his initials (please tell me if I'm wrong). His initials are JT. If you see this, please respond, I just want to talk...

If you've made it to the end, thank you for your time.
