PSA: Your AC6 names are being censored.

Discussion

Dark Souls 3 Censor Checker (Note: test names in all lowercase)

If you named your AC "knight" or even decided to bring "head bringer" online, or even if your pilot name contains "handler," your name comes up as asterisks to other players.

If you go online and see someone's name entirely as asterisks, it's safe to assume it's a censored name, and/or or uses any number of characters foreign to the keyboard of the region of your copy of AC6.

However, how do you know your names (pilot or AC) aren't also being censored?

From Software's censor detection is hilariously strict. I linked the "Dark Souls 3" censor, but it works for AC6 and Elden Ring and other titles.

I felt this was worth making a post over because I looked up the term "censor" on this subreddit and I haven't seen this being linked anywhere.

There's workarounds for this, but I'll leave that part up to those who care.

Here are some of the more mild examples of strings that will register a censor:

  • 666
  • angrypenguin
  • bang
  • corn
  • dog
  • ead
  • fart
  • goddamn

Here's the full list of the censored strings if you don't want to use the tool from the first link.
