My [34F] bf [39M] have been together 5 months and I’m realizing he doesn’t think opposite genders can be friends. Is that generally true for most people?

I’m torn on this issue. I’ve always had wonderful friends of the opposite gender, and yes I’m not naive I do think a lot of men and women try to be friends with people they are attracted to. But I think some of my bfs thinking is problematic. He’s asked why I need to make friends or have conversations with men and if I need the attention? He’s said he doesn’t entertain conversations with women ever because it can open the door. I see where he’s coming from to some degree because these days I just want to be home with him. If I get calls from my guy friends he is bothered unless it’s on FaceTime and he can feel relaxed about the conversation. He’s not controlling about what I do or where I go, just nervous if I go out with a girlfriend and don’t text him updates of where I’m at. I would appreciate if people in long term healthy relationships share their experiences and thoughts on the matter.
