KLM giving run-around for delayed baggage claim
I flew from DEL to YYC via AMS on december 21 to attend a funeral on december 23. Upon arrival in YYC almost half of the passengers had their checked bags missing including myself. I filed a PIR report at the airport and was told my baggage will be delivered to the address I provided. All my clothes and toiletries were in the missing bag and I had to purchase new clothes, toiletries, underwears, and chargers for phone/laptop. I had to purchase some formal outerwears to attend the funeral as it was freezing cold (-21°C) in YYC. On december 23 at around 8 pm, I received an email that my baggage has arrived at the airport and will be delivered shortly. Next day I had to go another city and had to purchase a few more clothes and toiletries in the morning and later that day around 12:15pm my baggage was delivered to my address. So basically nothing was purchased after my baggage was technically "made available to me". I requested for a reimbursement for all the expenses (total $690) but KLM refused to compensate for expenses made on the day of delivery mentioning that my baggage was delivered on december 23 (which is wrong as I received an email on 23 night and my baggage was delivered next day, december 24 at 12:15pm). They however, compensated for expenses I made prior to december 24. Now, on december 24 I didn’t know what time my baggage will be delivered and I had to go to a different city, hence the purchase was inevitable which technically is before my baggage was delivered to my address.
