Championship that was marked as an asterisk - but was it?

We have a pretty competitive league that’s been running 8 years strong. Really solid group of guys and we’ve become pretty close friends through this thing.

You gotta help me settle this - A few seasons ago, I entered into the playoffs roaring my team was on fire. But there was another that squeaked in and was destroying the competition, upset #1 and #4. I was worried… would I get supplanted as the #2 seed by the #8 seed?

We faced off in the championship, the last day of the championship game I was out to dinner with my family, I checked the score at the end of the last game… it was over. He was ahead by like 4 pts, 1 min left to go, I had one player he had another.

I left dinner and got tons of messages - I was thinking “they’re gloating…” BUT NO. I had TIED this man. IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

ESPN gave me the win because I had a better record and PF… the league says this is an “asterisk” win, but I think it’s a fair win with me working during the season to get the PF and record that I did.

What do you think? Is it a fair win? Or an asterisk?
