22 Charger pic rail

Hey all. Does anybody have any ideas on how to extend the length of the pic rail towards the rear? I'd like to mount a dot/magnifier combo and the pic rail just doesn't go back quite far enough given the eye relief on either of my magnifiers. Is replacing the barrel and forend my only real option here?
