Canada - surrender Indian passport

Hi all,

My mom became a Canadian citizen in May 2025. We completely forgot about surrendering her Indian passport (she was born and raised in India. Was a PR of Canada for almost 20 years)

We are traveling to India in a week from Toronto Canada. Everything is booked under her Canadian passport and we have obtained a tourist e-Visa.

Will we have an issue going and coming back? There are no BLS appointments available to surrender the passport for the next month. So even if I mail in the application, we won’t get the certificate back anyway in time.

What do we need to be prepared for?
