How mixed/integrated are friend groups and dating in major US cities, race-wise ?

I've never been to the States so my understanding comes from Film and TV ( I watch a lot of TV lol), I've read about how even today communities tend to be segregated- both by choice and due to, erm, let's say historical reasons, but when I watch movies or TV shows the major cities look like a post-racial utopia where everyone gets along, drinks and fucks with each other etc

Ofcourse, Film/TV is not reflective of reality, but I'd like to know from some of you first hand how 'integrated' it is overall in different parts of the country, thanks !
