Photo paper question

I'm brand new to film developing and printing, so please excuse my ignorance.

I came across someone with photo paper from 2007 and 2012 (ilford MGIV multigrade IV RC, two different sizes) that he claims has been unopened. Would it be a bad idea to buy it? I'm not sure how long it lasts.
