Favouritism in management

Do you think your managers have favourites in your departments? I applied for a band 6 that I was more than qualified for but the girl that was younger, less qualified, less experienced but was a lot more popular amongst managers and the team in general got the job. I was just wondering if this happened with you guys??

It just infuriates me because it's not another band 6 that I have to ask for breaks from that's 10yrs younger than me! Some of them couldn't even do their job properly as a band 5 but because they were so liked they easily walked through the interview, I try and because I struggle with a speech impedance, they immediately dismiss me even though I've ran shifts before!
