General battery longevity question
I know the batteries are warrantied for 8 years/100,000 miles. But what has data shown as far as likely failures beyond this point? And I’m not necessarily talking reduced capacity, but just complete failure to where a new battery would be needed? One of my big fears would be to get past that 8 year mark, and then poof, the entire battery needs replaced at a cost of $10-15k! Are batteries one of those things where if they didn’t have problems in that warranty time frame, that they’re likely not to have issues beyond that barring some sort of accident or something? I know the Mach E hasn’t even been out long enough for the battery warranties to have expired, but maybe those with other older EVs could chime in. Thanks.
