moving on from someone(hyperfixating on them) - the switch that worked for me
Hi, I'm an ENTJ and I have this issue where once in a long while I get obsessively stuck on someone but it's a need for control. Like I want to control everyone they look at, talk to etc but at the same time I lowkey hate many things about them yet try to "compromise". I was stuck on such a shituationship for quite some time now. And today, I've finally made that switch by asking these 3 questions and genuinely reminding myself these facts about me-
- do I want to give them back the same control I want(need) over them ?
I am talking about everything from social media passwords to real life hanging out with friends, knowing everything, sharing photos, memories.
- if he was the last guy I ever get love from, will I feel loved by him?
hell no. so it's about a matter of time that after I win this mental game that has bruised my ego and hijacked my control issues, I will be looking for something else.
- if all these hurdles were not there and it was just me and him (replace him with someone without these mental gymnastics in my current life) would I still choose him?
I highly doubt we would even talk or that he would be any more than my acquaintance whose name I vaguely remember. some people trigger a certain problem solving side in me, that makes me hyperfixate on them but it's definitely not "love".
hope it helps someone.
