I beseech the servants of the Omnissiah to grant me illumination
Thank you for your earlier answers but I have stumbled into a new quandary.
Would tech-priests be upset if a Space Marines had made non-standard modifications of their vehicles, i.e., made a modification of a Predator MBT to have different weapons for a different combat role? Or would the be find it interesting? Is this probably far more likely a matter that some would have a problem with it and others wouldn't.
If they are mad or upset, would this cause any issues or repercussions? Could the Tech-Marine be censured? If angered enough could Mars cut this chapter off from receiving replacement predators?
I was hoping if maybe you might add some feedback to some of my ideas, if you are willing. The homebrew chapter I created is a claimed Ultramarine successor chapter called the Iron Judges. They revere the Lex as the true teachings of the Emperor. They get looked down on because they mostly fight pirates, humans, orks, and eldar, as well as then end up fighting quite a few hive gangs when they get out of control and pretty chaos-y. To that end they wanted something like a Razorback but with a little more armor and firepower, but something that wouldn't have some of the blind spots a standard predator might have fighting in the heavy urban environments of a hive.
Option 1: I first started working on this when I saw the booklet for one of the OG Razorbacks and the "Armored Razorback" and thought of taking that funky lascannon + twin-linked plasma gun turret and slapping that on a Predator. However, I'm looking for urban warfare fighting against mostly lighter infantry and don't really need what are really anti armor weapons. I just felt it would be a neat callback.
Option 2: Twin autocannons, either Reaper, which I feel old terminator autocannons might not have the range they might want, or M34 so they'd just be like the IG heavy weapons teams (I have no idea if these are even different weapons really on the tabletop). It would have higher rate of fire than a standard predator, it could have high elevation, and it still heavy enough to deal with light vehicles and barricades which seems like a perfect solution.
Option 3: Plasma Cannon or Twin-linked Plasma Cannon. Not like the Executioner Leman Russ, but just one or two Plasma Cannons like Space Marine Devastators use. Having two means you can have a higher fire rate against mass of enemies and the Plasma Cannons have blast, so win-win?
I plan on no matter what having heavy flamers as the sponson weapons.
Thank you.
