New to Cars. Downsides of a Cold Air Intake/Dry Filter?

I'm new to modifying cars and dont know alot of technical talk. I would love to stick a cold air intake into my '19 Accord 1.5t. I've done some research and I've discovered that swapping filters from stock can potentially let more dirt and FOD in than stock. How much would this ACTUALLY affect my engine life if I did a swap? Will it really screw up my daily driver or do people just like to exaggerate?
