Where To Find Affordable Apartments in Charlotte, NC

If you're moving to Charlotte this year and looking for an affordable apartment this can be a tricky task. With 150+ people moving here every day the demand for housing continues to increase driving up the cost of living. While it is more affordable than many other cities, rent is still a major pain point for many across the area.

If you are looking for the best deals on apartments here's where you should look.

#1 Areas that have a ton of new apartments:

LoSo, Mallard Creek, Steele Creek

These have apartments going up left and right which are all competing with each other so they are running awesome deals.

#2 The suburbs

Like any city the closer you get to the center, the more expensive it gets. You can get a one bed in the city for $1500 or a two bed in the suburbs. We'd recommend looking into Matthews, Mooresville and Kannapolis. There's many others across the city but these seem to be fan favorites for locals and those moving here.

#3 Set realistic expectations

One of the hardest concepts to grasp is how much the cost of living actually is in a city before you move here. Inner city rents start around $1300 for a studio, $1500 for a one bedroom, and $2200+ for a 2 bedroom. This will fluctuate from apartment to apartment and prices change daily so one day a community may be cheap and the next prices are hiked. If you see a deal jump on it. If something seems to good to be true, do as much digging as you can on the community, the area and the exact apartment to find out why.
