Should I get a MBA?
Hi all, I am a college senior thinking of applying for deferred MBA program. Here is my profile:
- undergrad at UChicago, GPA ~3.8, GRE: 327(170 math + 157 verbal, will probably take it again next month
- interned in a BB in my junior summer as an investment banking analyst
- 1st job after college: consultant at a MBB
Why I want to go to biz school:
- my ultimate goal is to break into tech, which is kinda far away from where I’m standing now(also UChicago is not very tech heavy
- networks are pretty important and I want to use these two years to build up my network which will be beneficial in a longer term
- my firm will sponsor it, so why not
Why I’m hesitant to go:
- many ppl have been telling me to directly jump to the tech industry and make my network while working
- two years in the 20s are kinda heavy in terms of time commitment
- most MBA candidates will head into banking or consulting post grad which I have already had experiences in
One more thing: I’m international and will eventually move back to Asia at some point in my life. I want to have Stanford or Harvard on my resume to further boost the credentials.
Let me know your thoughts!
