What am I supposed to do in the newborn phase?

My first child my wee girl was born today and she’s so unreal but I’m kind of at a loss as to what I’m supposed to do.

Just got told to leave the maternity ward cause it’s midnight I think I got holding her for about an hour total all day since she was born at 5. My partner wants to exclusively breastfeed which is cool but anytime our baby cries she just sticks her on the boob. She’s not settling in her crib so basically just lied on my partners chest the entire time and cries when she’s not there.

What am I supposed to do like what’s my role I want to have an active role like I changed her first nappy and stuff but is that all we do?

I wish my partner would pump so we could both feed her but she doesn’t want to do that and she says that this is why we have to co-sleep (a major source of disagreement during the pregnancy as I’m against it due to the risks) can’t help but feel a wee bit deflated as I head back to an empty house.
