Any Success Stories? Misunderstanding to Happily Ever After 26F, 27M
My (26F) boyfriend (27M) and I have been together for seven months, and things have been going pretty well. Early in our relationship, he mentioned that he had some childhood trauma, and I understand because we don’t get to choose our families. He’s a deep and philosophical person, while I’m more lighthearted and enjoy being happy rather than always thinking deeply. I find that most of our misunderstandings come from him thinking deeply and me not so much, so it seems like we’re not on the same page or we’re on the same page in different paragraphs. Recently, he shared more details about his trauma, and it all started to make sense. He views everything through a trauma lens, so everything feels so deep.
Anyway, my question is that before putting two and two together, the misunderstandings and me being told I live in a fantasy world make me feel defeated. I’m sure I’ve made him feel a way by not understanding his perspective. I feel really good about the fact that we both understand our backgrounds and whatnot. Before the whole trauma talk, we both expressed how exhausted we were from not understanding. That feeling of exhaustion did make me wonder how long this relationship would last, but I’m more hopeful now. My question is, do you guys have any success stories of having these challenges in your relationship, feeling exhausted and questioning, to overcoming them and being happy together?
