Just had to put down my 11mo cat yesterday…
I’m so devastated to say my gf and i had to put our new kitten to rest. We have only had him for 2 weeks, the shelter we got him from told us prior to adoption he was FIV+ and had symptoms of a cold, we brought him home watched his symptoms they never subsided but kind of leveled out (wheezing, coughing, clogged nose and eye boogers, swollen lymph nodes) I could only get him to the vet on Monday that was the nearest day we could.
I would say 2-3 days before the appointment he started declining, he was not playing, moving and not eating as much and sleeping all day. so I was anxiously waiting to go to the vet at this point. I unfortunately had to work so my gf and mother went together, to get to the point I get a call, and my mother is freaking out saying he never had FIV and that the shelter was wrong, turns out he had leukemia. Vet said he had severely imflamed lymph nodes and wouldn’t have made it 2 more weeks so euthanasia was the best option. Were just so devastated because we started getting attached and he was just so young. I’m also just worried if the vet was wrong and if we should’ve gotten a second opinion. This is one of the worst cat death I’ve ever experienced. Rip Ozzy❤️
