Is it a good idea to down-size casual Commander decks if the table does the same?

I’m preparing a handful of Avatar-only MTG commander decks for my wife and I to play with (1v1). Since we don’t expect to play against others, I figure it may make sense to build 49 or 59 card decks instead of the standard 99. Less filler, more killer. Thoughts?

For those interested, I plan on tweaking MTGGoldfish’s Aang, Iroh, Toph, and Sokka decks
