Medication journey

I know that when a med works for a kid, it doesn’t mean it will work for another one. I’m just genuinely curious which med/med combos have you found most successful for your child?

My 7yo AuDHD son primarily suffers from extreme hyperactivity and lack of focus, anxiety, poor impulse control and difficulties regulating emotions.

Our med journey has been nothing short of an exhausting roller coaster ride and I feel like we’ll never find the right med/combo. At this point we have tried 3 different stimulants (Ritalin, Vyvanse, now Biphentin) all of which really didn’t do a lot for the hyperactivity/focus and impulse control piece. We also tried sertraline, which did noticeably improve anxiety symptoms which led to fewer “meltdowns” in certain areas however there were some side effects involved so we could not continue. We are now back at square one. I just want to find something that helps him not feel so shameful and guilty for being a ‘bad kid’ (his words 😞), and lessen the calls from the school about him having a crying screaming meltdown because someone butted in front of him in line or he got irritated with another kid so he hit them. This is so hard!
