Roathe Remembering Resets

Okay little rant but why does Roathe know about the resets? I genuinely don't see why he should remember because you can't start from scratch with him in that case. And if you lie and say you haven't reset he gets mad (rightfully so) but he shouldn't be able to remember. So if you lie to him, are you basically screwed? Or can you actually get the good ending?
