Doctor scheduled colonoscopy along with band ligation -- now worried
I have my colonoscopy next week after complaining about constant bleeding for years when I would have a bowel movement. I've never experienced any chronic stomach pain (at least no more than a typical person would experience due to eating something funky), constipation, changes in fecal size, or any of the other symptoms of cancer, so when he recommended he do a colonoscopy when I just assumed he was going to do a band ligation has me completely freaking out. I feel like he's worried about something serious and just... doesn't want me to worry. I'd only experience bleeding when defecating and it was always accompanied with pain around the anus so I just assumed it was an anal fissure or hemorrhoids that have just been on and off for years. The bleeding and pain also has always responded to hydrocortisone cream and would completely go away whenever I applied it so I was like, it definitely can't be colon cancer if it's responding to hydrocortisone right?? But now I'm on youtube watching patient stories of people who also ignored a symptom and the comment section talks about how they've passed away since the video published and now I'm having a panic attack!!
Am I worried over nothing?? Has a doctor ever felt like they were hiding something from you? Do I just need to get off youtube??
