LOCATION: NJ Enrolled in a new AAPC program that feels misrepresented — is this something I should seek legal advice on?

Advice needed

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice and to see if others have experienced something similar.

I recently enrolled in a fairly new AAPC program and invested about $8,000. I knew going in that the coursework would be demanding, but the actual structure and pace have been very different from what was represented to me before enrolling.

For example: • Core subjects like medical terminology and anatomy are being crammed into an extremely short timeframe (multiple chapters at once, within a single week). • The workload includes heavy reading, quizzes, exams, and assignments all at the same time, making it feel impossible to actually retain the material. • I feel like I’m being pushed to “pass” rather than genuinely understand what I’m learning. • There were also discrepancies around scheduling and materials that I didn’t anticipate. • I’m working two jobs, and while I expected the program to be challenging, this level of compression feels unrealistic and unsustainable.

What’s concerning is that after joining Reddit, I’ve seen many other students describing the exact same issues, which makes me wonder whether this is a broader problem with how the program was designed or marketed, especially since it’s relatively new.

I’m trying to understand: • Is this something that could potentially fall under misrepresentation or unfair business practices? • Is it reasonable to seek legal advice or file a complaint, even if some things were discussed verbally rather than in writing? • Has anyone successfully gotten a refund, partial refund, or program adjustment in a situation like this?

I’m not trying to be dramatic or avoid hard work—I genuinely want to learn and succeed—but right now this feels like an environment where understanding is sacrificed for speed.

Any insight or shared experiences would really help. Thank you.
