Got admitted to Uni Duisburg-Essen (UDE) for M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering - Need help choosing a specialization

Yo everyone,

Just got my admits for M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering (ISE) at UDE for Summer 2026. I’m stuck between two specializations and need a reality check from anyone living in the Ruhr area or studying at UDE.

The choices are:

1. General Mechanical Engineering

2. Production and Logistics

I’m trying to figure out the job market. Is General Mech still the "gold standard," or is it better to go with Production and Logistics given how much of a logistics hub Duisburg is? I want to know where the money and job security actually are for the next 20-30 years.

Also, for the guys already at UDE:

• How's the workload? Is the "General" track a total GPA killer compared to P&L?

• Is the campus life in Duisburg actually decent?

How are the sports facilities (gym, football, etc.)?
