Am I Wrong For Not Believing That My Friend Was SAd?

I know this is crazy to ask but I really need to know if I’m wrong.

Context: My friend was dealing with this dude that she really liked a while back. One day she said they were being intimate and he got really rough with her and when she asked him to stop repeatedly, he did not until she actually started to cry. She called me and three other friends to stay the night with her because she didn’t want to be alone and needed support. We all stayed and held her while she cried and seemed truly torn up about it.

We all suggested she tell the police but she didn’t want to and I did not hold it against her because sometimes people aren’t ready to confront that kind of thing especially right after it’s happened.

Fast forward to present, she called me and asked if I remember the guy and I said ofc cuz why wouldn’t I? She said that he got into contact with her and that he was in the military and wanted to marry to get the benefits that the military provides. She told me that he told her the money was really good and she’d have medical etc. She said that she was seriously considering it because she’d been out of work and struggling.

This confused me because if this man truly SAd her as she said and she was so heartbroken about it how could she even THINK let alone seriously contemplate marrying him even if it was just for benefits.

Then I also found out that she contacted said assaulter and asked him to come stay with her at a hotel to make sure that a trucker didn’t do anything to her when she went to NC for a few months to deal with this other dude and she got stranded. I actually paid for her train tickets back home TWICE and she missed both trains. She ended up hitching a ride back with this trucker, and they ended up stopping to spend the night before getting back on the road.

All of this truly makes me think she lied. I hate to ever say a woman is lying about being SAd but that and her actions after don’t add up.
