Is it possible to be scammed/hacked with a scripted pet?

I had accepted a trade on elve and when I joined her in game she told me she had been scammed and couldn't trade until after 11 days had passed. When I asked, she told me that the scammer had given her a scripted pet, and she'd lost her pets that way. In her profile she had trade histories of her pets being scammed away.

I wish I'd taken screenshot or a video but has anyone ever heard of this happening? Because if it's true then it would make me warier than ever of trading in general lol
