tips, plot points, dislikes, suggestions for a wlw zombie apocalypse story?

hi all! writing a wlw zombie apocalypse story (strangers to just straight hating each other, reluctant allies (ish) to lovers) and i have the beginning, some mid points, and a tentative planned ending so far, but not sure what more situations to get my mc's in to. i have some ideas, but they constantly feel reused or 'basic'. i know basic plot points succeed when written well, but i just kind of want something new.

therefore leads to my question, what kind of plot points have you wanted to see executed or explored in an apocalyptic novel but haven't been able to? or in wlw enemies to lovers? i'm really open to anything! very much in the developmental, outlining stages.

also, what do you dislike seeing in apocalyptic novels (or wlw)? what do books do 'wrong' for you? i know i have strong feelings about what i dislike, but i enjoy hearing others opinions!

info: set in the us/canada, takes place roughly 7-10 years after the outbreak (but this can be tentative, doesnt necessarily effect the plot much but it cant be sooner than 4 years post), mcs are roughly in thirties
