Is Lora an acceptable alternate spelling to Laura?

Baby Names

I know this sub tends to hate alternate spellings, but I have to know… can I name a child Lora and it not come across as trying to be unique? I love the sound of the name and the nickname Lor but have always disliked the Laura spelling. I feel like Lora is a logical and simple spelling so it wouldn’t cause too much trouble, but that spelling falls outside of the top 1000 so I know it will still be misspelled. That doesn’t bother me a ton though because I feel like most names will get misspelled no matter what.

I also suggested Elora to my husband because I thought that could make the Lora spelling more acceptable if it were shortened to that, but he prefers just Lora. And honestly, I kinda do too.

So lay it on me, name nerds… is it a bad idea?
