Is it cheating to see someone else if we’re casual and not exclusive?

I’ve been casually dating a guy for about four months. We chose to keep things casual because we’re both really busy people. We haven’t had an explicit conversation about exclusivity, but based on his actions and what he’s told me, I believe he isn’t talking to anyone else and hasn’t since we started seeing each other.

We go on dates, have sleepovers when we can, and I do genuinely like him a lot.

Recently, another guy I used to be very close with came back to visit after transferring. We were extremely close and were also very close to becoming more than friends, but it never actually happened. That unresolved “what if” has been weighing on me.

He wants to hang out while he’s visiting, and I want to see him too. The issue is that I know hanging out with him would likely lead to something more. Nothing would come out of us hooking up (I think), and I want to resolve the what if.

Would this be cheating?
