Garbage company.
My 2.5 month experience with Allstate, so far. Browsing for auto insurance, get a few quotes, try Allstate. Within about 90 seconds of filling in my contact information on the online quote tool, I had an agent call. Said i'm just browsing, declined his assistance and ended the call. This happened two more times in the next 15 minutes. By the third call I was pretty peeved but I did like the price of my quote, so I went ahead and made an initial payment and cancelled my old insurance. Get my new customer info in the mail, get email statement near end of first month saying there have been changes made to my policy and suddenly my premium is about 40% higher. When I contacted their customer service to find out why I was juggled around 3 times before talking to someone who could work my account, because they purchased my policy through another company. Am told that the reason my price went up is because two other drivers not on the policy live at my address. I advised them that I spoke about that to the rep who sold the policy, I take care of my parents who are on disability and my mother doesn't drive and my dad leaves the house at most once a month, in his own vehicle. So the rep took them off the account, for the quote, but when their system ran the address and found the two other driving age family members jacked it back up. Very frustrating, but with the increase it was roughly what I was paying before, with better coverage, roadside, etc. I'll just deal with it - easier than going through it all again. Make the next payment, fast forward another month, get statement that I have policy changes again. Great, log into my allstate account, click on my policy, Error. Status Code 401, Request ID 00-1872etcetc. This was last Thursday. Ok..great. I'll wait a few days and try again. Yesterday, same thing. Click on the live chat on their website. "We are unable to offer this feature at this time. Please call us at blah blah blah'. Great, I'll call. Ring up customer support, first two people can't service my account, because without my knowledge Allstate took my money, then purchased a cheaper policy from another company to increase their profits. At least this person can access my account, maybe I can get some help with the tech issue, or find out why my policy went up again and how much. His answer when I said that I get an error code when clicking my policy was that there have been reports of the website being down today. Well, the website is fine, I was logged in, it was just when I try to view my policy...and its been ongoing for 6 days, not just today. I ask if he can escalate a ticket or task to their IT team and was advised there was nothing he could do, but I can use the quickpay link to make a payment without logging into my account I just need the acct number. I tell him this does not fix the issue, get put on hold, and a short time later disconnected. I call back, go through two people in different call centers again to get back to someone who can service my account. Tell her what was going on, and that I would like to cancel my account. She didn't sound surprised, so we started the process. However, she couldn't set a future dated cancel date at the end of the pay period, nor could she tell me if i would receive a prorated refund for the policy time I had already paid for, or face any charges for canceling mid term as I still have 3 1/2 months left on the policy. It was hard to hold my temper, but I work in a different industry in a similar position, and I know it's not the fault of any of the agents I spoke with, it is the way the company is structured and how they do business in general. I'm going to give it one more attempt tomorrow on my lunch break, maybe I'll be able to talk to someone in tech support or billing...idk. Lets hope.
wtldr: Aggressive sales agents, bad faith quotes, deceptive practices, outsourced CSR call centers, broken website, non functional webchat, and when they can't help you, you get disconnected or directed to call the customer support line you dialed in the first place. Fuck Allstate.
