How do you shoot over people as a guard?

I’ve played 2k for years and I just can’t figure out how to shoot over people on my 6’5 PG. I have 96 3ball and I know all the dribble moves and I practice a lot. I’m pretty good at dribbling I think and I can get around people for dunks but I face so many guards that can do the same moves I do yet shoot right in my face after an animation and get zero contest. I get so much contest when I shoot even when the guy isn’t even close to me half the time. I don’t understand what the difference is that I’m missing. A god tier PG or SG makes the game nearly impossible to lose and I’ve been trying to elevate my 3ball scoring PG game to takeover games forever but I can’t do it. I can Jimmy escape into a seemingly open 3ball for someone else and get contest every time.
