Front Camera Question

Hi all,

New owner of a 2016 M235i convertible. The front camera is broken most likely due to a rock. I’m being quoted roughly $1000 to replace it but am wondering if I wouldn’t be just as well off with a dash cam. Can’t afford both at this time. Wonderful car though and very relaxing to drive as far as stressing over other drivers
