How do I approach jealousy and reassurance in a relationship? | 22F & 24M

Is this okay? so i’m looking for an advice on how to handle jealousy and boundaries in a dating relationship.

The person I’m dating has shared that he went through a past relationship where his ex asked for space and later on ended up with someone he was already suspicious of. I think this experience may have affected how he handles trust now.

Recently, I told him in advance that I was meeting a childhood friend (male) to catch up. I don’t go out often, and although most of my friends are guys, I’ve limited contact with them out of respect for my partner. This was a rare meetup with someone I used to be close to and had only recently reconnected with.

Before I went out, he asked many questions (who the friend was, his name, where we were going), which felt overwhelming. After I got home, he was distant for a while, though things are okay now.

I’m not trying to decide who is right or wrong. I just want to understand whether this is a healthy dynamic and how to communicate or set boundaries around jealousy in a way that feels respectful for both of us. I also experience jealousy at times, but I generally give my partner freedom to go out without questioning him.

Any advice on how to approach this constructively would be appreciated :)
