I think I’ve been silently fired at my new job, what do I do??

Layoffs

I’m 18F. I started working at this restaurant recently as a casual worker. (Mind you I’m pretty sure 70% of the workers there are casual) I’ve worked a total of 6 shifts and for the past two weeks haven’t been rostered at all.

They’re not hiring new people because I can still see who’s on the roster—it’s the same 12 people on rotation every time. I knew my performance was slow and a little unstable but that’s given as I never worked at a restaurant environment before. They all knew that and said it was fine and that I was just learning. hearing other people’s first time experiences they all said they made mistakes too. It made me feel a little better about myself.

However, I figured they didn’t like that and now decided to silently fire me. Adding onto that, my recent shift and probably my last ever. I had to work in 42 degree celsius—I had no sleep, I was hot, irritated and all the recent external stress with friends/family and applying to uni was building up inside me. I was making mistakes more often and one of my managers kept hassling me to do things while I was in the middle of doing something else. She kept lecturing me and even ran around the restaurant calling me out to clean the tables despite clearly seeing I was being trained on how to clean the dishwasher.

The restaurant was empty btw. It just got me even more upset and I couldn’t control my expressions which led to a series of more questions about being upset. I didn’t want to answer because I didn’t want to make excuses. I should’ve been honest but I was afraid of being a burden.

I was given grapes to wash and serve, I threw them out seeing how old, mushy and moldy they were. There was actual MOLD on the grapes and it got me even more heated and disgusted. I was going to tell my manager but I was so irritated I quickly went home and forgot. She ended up calling me later and I apologised and explained. She probably thought I was lying or whatever. I should’ve taken a picture, anyways…

That day I also restocked the wrong water in the fridge. I was confused seeing the different brands and knew it felt wrong so I asked my coworker to check for me. My manager got annoyed and told me they were for staff. I already put sm inside I and wanted to crash out so bad. That was my first time restocking the fridge, I wasn’t told those bottles were for staff. She was definitely annoyed at my competence and lack of common sense as she’d call it.

And that led me to not being rostered for two weeks now and probably on going. I still haven’t received my pay check and should probably message my manager about my shifts too but idk what to say or what to do.

Should I wait?

What should I say?
