Hey guys. I'm in a bit of a pickle here.

Civic is at 150,000 miles (240k km). Been in B.C., Canada its whole life. I'm the second owner and I just bought this car June of 2025. I drove it for around 6k miles with no problems. Previous owner did maintenance at a *less-than-ideal* amount of intervals.

I went in to get oil, transmission fluid, and drive belt replaced. The mechanic discovered quite a lot of oil leak (video above) and suggested some repairs to be done at around $1200 Canadian ($860usd). They did say that a lot of oil discovered we're dry and crusty so it potentially was from something long ago (still doesn't make me feel better).

After diagnosis, they discovered that the Intermediate Shaft Bearing is leaking grease and that the Timing Chain Cover needs resealing. The oil seems to be everywhere so they weren't able to pin point but they suggested fixing the diagnosed problems to (hopefully?) fix the leaks. I declined the offer for now since I almost collapsed at the added price of all the repairs.

In the meantime, I'll closely monitor the oil levels. Should I heed their advice and get it replaced now or is this something that can wait until I can fork some money?
