Why did I die?

So I was running the chaos shuffle, and I went against a knight running ebony mori. I was injured, and hiding from him, and another player got the exit gate powered. I was then immediately downed, found, and mori'd. Is that a perk that would cause that? The only thing I could see for the exit gates was Wesker's broken status upon gates opening. I was just wondering if I got a hacker.
