writers who use voice dictation: what actually sucks about it?

Advice

Quick question for people who actually write.

I’m messing around with a tiny Android app that lets you speak naturally and turns it into clean, readable text. Not raw dictation. It removes the “um”, “uh”, fixes grammar, and tries to make it sound like something you’d actually send or publish.

It’s very early and honestly might just be a bad idea, which is why I’m asking here instead of hyping it.

I’m curious:

  • Do you use voice dictation at all right now? If not, why?
  • What’s the most annoying part of dictation for writing (not notes)?
  • Would you ever write emails / drafts / messages this way, or does it feel unnatural?
  • Is this solving a real problem or just a gimmick?

Not selling anything, not dropping links unless someone asks. I’m genuinely trying to figure out if writers would even want something like this before going further.

Blunt answers appreciated.
