Question: Would you rather your postie knock even if it can be left in a safe place.

I'm starting as a postie next week, and I'm wondering what the consensus is for safe-dropping a parcel. Personally, when I get deliveries I'd rather they just leave it in a safe place and not even knock because I'm usually reading or on the computer and don't want to be disturbed, but I realize I might be biased because I've worked as a postie before and I know this is easiest for them.

Obviously if it requires a signature id rather they knock rather than leave me a sorry we missed you note. I'm specifically talking about if something can be left in a safe place, would you rather they knocked first?
