Getting sued to revoke life estate deed

So my relative gave me deed to the house and kept life estate to the property. Now I’m being sued to revoke the deed stating we had a verbal agreement that never took place. I was under the impression that these are irrevocable. But can they just file a claim year later saying that they no longer want to gift the deed? What’s my options to fight this? Location: NYC.
