In Moneyball, Billy BeaneI walks into a meeting with his recruitment staff and stops their discussion about various players to tell them dismissively that they think like everyone else, and to win they can't be trying to just do what everyone else is doing. He provides no alternative strategies or ideas, so naturally his staff are confused and ask him to let them do their jobs. He stays dismissive of what they say and think while having no real vision himself, yet the audience is seemingly to e8ther see him as prophetic or the others as old and dumb.

In F1, the drivers and crew have a pre-race meeting discussing strategy. Joshua Pearce, the rookie driver, suggests playing safe and "hope for some lucky breaks" because the drivers are starting in 19th and 20th place with a car that is not in a competitive state. The main character, Sonny, responds "create your own breaks." He adds, "hope is not a strategy." This is generally meaningless in a sport like formula racing, as there's not really much chaos one can create while following the tules; the only way I can fathom one fairly *creating their own break* would be an unusual pit stop strategy. Even worse, the payoff we see for this later in the movie is Sonny being a disgrace to the sport of auto racing by deliberately breaking his car several times to slow down the race and give his teammate an advantage.

[Hated trope] Main protagonist makes performatice, useless statements to distinguish themselves as unlike the other characters
