Between the holidays (I made the "Going Merry" from One Piece for my brother for Christmas, though!) and my new latest health issue (fuck kidney stones), it's taken me a bit to complete this beauty, the OG. I actually started it on Christmas Day but didn't get very far because my seven year old nephew had been waiting for me to get to my aunt's house so we could play Mario Kart together again, and who'm I to deny the kid that? He rocks!

Anyway, this was a joy to build. I had the series playing in the background while I worked on it, and it was just an absolute delight. The tech school girl in me, like Adam Savage doing his first Gunpla build, just marvels at how well engineered and molded all the parts are. Ray Bradbury started the novel, "Fahrenheit 451" with, "It was a pleasure to burn." I'mma tweak that slightly, "It was a pleasure to build." It satisfies that creator/artsy side of me that seems to be common with many of us on the autism spectrum and with ADHD. It really is legit therapy. I find myself giddy over the hobby, and geeking out about it to my BF and friends and coworker friends. Hell, my unofficial "Work Mom" thinks the Gundams and mobile suits are adorably cute. Which, to be fair, they kinda are. I think it's the fantastically iconic way they look. The RX-78-2 sure is. As are the Zakus and Goufs. The GMs. I think that's what the 'sperg in me loves about the designs. There's SO much character to these giant robots. They can convey the pilot's emotions in something that doesn't have a moving face. It's the same with the Droids in Star Wars, they all have remarkable personalities. Good stuff.

Build number three! The HG RX-78-2!
