Toyota rent-a-car - 3 Questions

Want wanted to confirm a few things I've gathered from this subreddit and from the website, before I book.

1. I read somewhere that a traveller only paid when they picked the car up (maybe they booked direct? Happy to stand corrected). Is there a way to have the payment processed closer to booking date, when booking from overseas and not being able to speak Japanese? The Toyota website says (if I'm not wrong) Web booking requires Web payment and it's processed (ie you pay) at time of booking.

2. If you return the car earlier than the booked return time, they will refund you the unused hours. That was what a few redditors have experienced. Is that correct as a rule? Or is this not a given?

3)My husband's the one who will be driving with his international license. Should I use his credit card to book instead of mine? I was going to use my card, but this reads like the name on the credit card, not just the name used for the booking (his) has to be the person picking up the car. I just wanted an option of him picking the car up by himself just in case I'm busy.
