Disappearing Files

On the catalyst licenses 1.11.4 with OSX and two iPads all syncing via Obsidian’s paid sync service. Noticed that notes began disappearing. Then discovered TimeMachine hadn’t been backing anything up for weeks. Have a backup via Carbon Copy Cloner but only since the files mysteriously disappeared. Restoring through the Core plugin is painful at best. Dozens of files have disappeared and I can’t even find the .trash file in the .obsidian folder (the file hidden by default.) Any suggestions?
